Day 2: Kom Ombo Double Temple, Crocodile Museum & Esna

Today, the treasures of ancient Thebes await you. In the morning, we are happy to take you on a fascinating optional visit to the magnificent Temple of Horus and the imposing Luxor Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Luxor Temple in particular is regarded as a masterpiece of the Egyptian pharaohs due to its remarkable hieroglyphs, columns, and mighty colonnades. After the lunch break on our 5-star ship, we all enjoy a guided tour along the magical Avenue of Sphinxes (entrance included), with more than 1,000 statues—one of the most important testimonies to Egypt’s magnificent culture. Our next destination is the world-famous Karnak Temple (UNESCO World Heritage Site, entrance included). This unique complex was built under the reign of up to 30 pharaohs over a period of 1,500 years and extends across approximately 30 hectares with its temple structures. The Amun sanctuary of Karnak was the largest place of worship of its time. Simply breathtaking!

After breakfast, our tour guide leads us through the Valley of the Kings, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site (entrance included), with its magnificent tombs of the pharaohs. To date, 64 tombs have been uncovered. The walls are impressively decorated with hieroglyphs and scenes from Egypt’s history. As part of our visit, we explore selected tombs (entrance included). The next UNESCO World Heritage Site awaiting us is the impressive Temple of Hatshepsut, with its three विशाल terraces (entrance included).
Pharaoh Hatshepsut established the most powerful female monarchy. To crown the day, we admire the imposing Colossi of Memnon (UNESCO World Heritage Site, entrance included). The two quartzite statues depict Pharaoh Amenhotep III. They are approximately 18 m high, each weighing about 720 tons, and are among the most important and largest statues of ancient Egypt. In the evening, we relax aboard our 5-star ship.

Today, the 5-star cruise on the Nile comes to an end, and we enjoy a panoramic journey in a comfortable coach toward the Red Sea. First, we travel along flourishing Nile oases, the most fertile landscapes of Egypt, with palm trees, bamboo, jasmine, and lotus flowers. Continuing through the magnificent lunar landscape of the desert, we visit a traditional carpet-weaving workshop and admire this centuries-old handicraft. In the afternoon, we relax in Safaga on the Red Sea at our 5-star hotel.

After breakfast, we travel along the picturesque coast to the most beautiful pearl of the Red Sea, Hurghada. The former fishing village is now a renowned holiday destination with charming bays and a unique atmosphere. We discover the main sights, including the large El-Mina Mosque, the modern harbor, the beautiful old town, and the charming fish market. In the afternoon, local craftsmanship leads us to a jewelry and leather workshop near the El-Mina Mosque. Here, you will learn interesting facts about the production process and have the opportunity to purchase a holiday souvenir.
